Dealing with paralysis in everyday life Many people with disabilities can suffer as much from the way they are treated by other people and from the limitations their physical surroundings impose on them as from the disability itself. The people they deal with can assist or obstruct an individual’s attempts to adapt to their disability. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for others to appear to adopt a patronising attitude to someone in a wheelchair.


Leukocyte access into the central nervous system (CNS) parenchyma is tightly regulated by the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Leukocyte migration through the endothelial cell wall into the perivascular space is well characterized; however, mechanisms regulating their penetration through the glia limitans into the parenchyma are less well studied, and the role of monocytes relative to neutrophils is poorly defined
